MEET IRV

PROGRESSIVE LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR CHELTENHAM

Commissioner Irv Brockington, current Chair of the Public Safety Committee, Commissioner representative on the Library Board, and Commissioner representative on Township/School District Liaison Committee, has been a resident of Cheltenham Township for over 20 years, first living in Wyncote and then returning to the Township in 2002. When he returned, he realized it was time to follow his parents’ example of not just living in a community but being a contributing member of it.

Because of his love for baseball, he reached out to the Cheltenham Little League to see if he could participate in any way, even though none of his children were members. He started as a Coach then Board Member, then VP of Baseball Operations, then President of the League, and still serves as the Board’s Positive Coaching Alliance Coordinator. He also serves on the Cheltenham Sports Board.

He started his civic outreach in the Township by serving two terms in the Planning Commission and as committee person for ward 7-3. In 2014, he ran for Commissioner in Ward 7 and won. He truly enjoys serving the families of his ward. In addition, he previously served on the National Adoption Center Board of Directors and is currently on the Board of Directors for the West Oak Lane Charter School in Philadelphia.

Irv attended North Carolina Central University studying Business Administration. For over 20 years, he has worked as a Community Mortgage Loan Officer with several local banks to provide financial literacy and guidance for families seeking to buy their first home.

He continues to carry on the love and family values that he shared for 20 years with his late wife Theresa. He has his three daughters -- Krysten (CHS Class of 2000), Loren (CHS Class of 2014) and Kayla (CHS Class of 2022) -- and is grandfather to twins Joi and Justin.
